Therapy

meadow of long grass

Our services are designed to be supportive and affirming for people who are exploring their experiences of neurodivergence.

We specialise in helping people with a range of diagnoses and experiences to understand their sensory profile, their relational patterns, physical dysregulation, and make sense of their feelings.

We also work with people who are not diagnosed or seeking diagnosis but who wish to understand themselves in order to improve their mental health. We help you to gain clarity, reduce overwhelm, feel safer and harness your unique strengths.

We offer:

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing Therapy)

  • ACT - acceptance and commitment therapy

  • Narrative therapy

  • Integrative arts counselling

  • Neuroaffirming therapy

  • Child Accelerated Trauma Therapy

  • Somatic yoga and holistic therapies

How it works

STEP ONE: Free Consultation

The first step is for you to drop us an email and let us know you are interested in therapy. At the consultation, we will discuss what your needs are. We’ll share our price list with you with a detailed overview of the service you are interested in.

We know that some people find talking over the phone challenging, so we can offer a phone call or a video call. It is important that you get to know us, and we start to get to know you to make sure DL is a good fit for you and your needs.

STEP TWO: Booking Therapy

Once you have decided that therapy is right for you, we will book you in. Please look at the information below for an outline on costs, how long the therapy may last for (although this is dependent on individual need and the therapeutic approach), and any other useful information.

Our admin team will work with you to find a suitable time to start therapy. And we’ll ensure that a regular slot is allocated to you. We take payment upfront usually, although we can also offer payment plans. The first payment will need to be made before starting therapy.

STEP THREE: During Therapy

The therapeutic approach differs for each type of therapy undertaken. It really depends on what you have chosen with our guidance and support. Some therapies last a few weeks, others can be longer. You may want to meet weekly, or more infrequently.

We take a neuroaffirming and supportive approach to therapy, ensuring that you feel safe throughout.

STEP FOUR: Closing Therapy

At the end of therapy, we take one or two sessions to reflect on your progress and provide any feedback or reports, depending on the therapy chosen.

If you feel you need further support, we will discuss this with you.

Deciding to undertake therapy is a big step. It may take some time for the therapy to work, and will need your full commitment to the process. Please be patient and kind to yourself when undertaking any therapy. And do try to confide in your family, trusted friends, and work line manager if possible so that your support team are in place and are ready and able to reach out to you should you need it.

Therapy can also be hard work, and feel tiring at times. This is to be expected, as we are working on the nervous system and deeply held patterns and physiological changes within your body.

Give yourself sufficient space and time to do your therapy sessions and then rest and recuperate afterwards in whatever way works for you. Some people need rest, others need to engage and connect with friends or family, some may need to get out for a walk or exercise. There is no right or wrong approach to self-care and honouring what you need.

An adjunct therapy to support nervous system regulation, helping us receive and process cues of safety and danger more effectively to help bring balance and connectedness.

    Evidence-based, trauma informed listening therapy.

Access to 15 hours of music therapy, 5 of which are supervised and combined with grounding exercises, breath and body work to support restoration of a balanced nervous system.

    Investment: £750 payment plans available

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

A mindful and supportive psychotherapeutic modality to help you stay focused in the current moment. This approach allows you to view your feelings and emotions more objectively, accepting what they are without judgement.

We suggest starting with a minimum of 8 sessions with the option to extend if needed and depending on your situation.

Investment: £135 per session. Payment plans available

  • Narrative Therapy

A psychotherapeutic approach that helps you define your values and skills, and invites you to re-author your life story, offering a creative way to work your way through problems, anxieties and challenges.

Recommended to separate your experiences from your identity, supporting growth and change.

It is suggested that you have a minimum of 8 sessions up to a maximum of 20 sessions, depending on the complexity of the issues you wish to address.
